Darice and Quincy's Sweet Wedding in my Wedding Garden!

Darice and Quincy are the sweetest couple! We made all the arrangements for their wedding on May 24, 2014 in my wedding garden by email so I met them in person for the first time on their wedding day. Of course we included Darice's son, Josh, in the wedding and he was one happy teenage boy!
Josh escorts his beautiful mother from the family room across the deck into the wedding garden where Quincy and I and all their guests eagerly awaited her.
Their photographer, Kate Pope of Craven Creative Photography, is no stranger to my garden. I think she may have done about 5 weddings here now. She is so good to work with and her work is fabulous.
A couple of latecomers appeared at the gate and I invited them in.
Darice and Quincy were so happy to be getting married. Their eyes were filled with love.
They made their promises of marriage then it was time for the rings.
"With this ring, I marry you and pledge my heart to you."
Then the family unity sand ceremony.....Josh waits patiently while his mom and Quincy pour in part of their sand. Then he poured his sand in with theirs symbolizing the family unity.
I was so thrilled to have the privilege of pronouncing Quincy and Darice husband and wife!
Such a sweet kiss! I think it was the second or third try though!
The young lady who stood up for Darice is her niece, Mahogany.
During the ceremony we did a blessing for Josh. Quincy said some powerful words to him about how much he loved him and how happy he is to embrace him as his son. Then they gave him a token of their love as a memento of this sweet occasion. it is a necklace with his name, the date and a cross.
I could tell that Josh was thrilled to have Quincy for his father!
The whole gang!
Darice and Quincy, you are a fabulous couple. I am so happy that you found each other and are now officially a family of three. I wish you much happiness, contentment, and satisfaction in your lives.

Lorraine and David travel from Liberty NC to Marry in My Wedding Garden!

Lorraine called me on May 13th to see if I could officiate hers and David's wedding the following weekend.  We chose 2:00 PM on Saturday the 17th 2014 in my wedding garden. Perfect. They were going to head from here to the beach to celebrate. They asked two friends to meet them here to serve as witnesses.
When we were ready, I processed in from the deck into the garden.
Then David and Lorraine entered together.
 We had a few laughs!
They made their vows to each other.
 Then exchanged rings!
 A closing blessing.
 The pronouncement of marriage!
I asked them to seal their union with a kiss then reached around to ring the bell on the arbor.
 Such a photogenic couple!
That is some "rock" David gave Lorraine!! They say diamonds are a girls best friend!
Lorraine and David, it was my honor and my pleasure to join two people so in love in matrimony! I wish you the very best in life and all the happiness you can stand!!

Lovely Wedding for Felicia and Jacob in my Wedding Garden!

First wedding of 2014 in my garden. Felicia and Jacob are both quite young and so much in love. But, they have known each other since grade school and went through high school together with secret crushes on each other. It was not until they went away to college that their affection for each other began to surface. And so their long friendship blossomed into romance, then serious love and they soon became inseparable. They did not want to wait until they could afford a more elaborate wedding and I was happy to do the honors in my pretty garden on Easter Sunday April 20, 2014. (My husband Dave and I got married in the very same spot on Easter Sunday 15 years ago although I had not transformed it into the garden yet!)
Jacob was all decked out in a tux with a boutonniere. He stood there so patiently waiting for everyone to arrive and for the bride to get ready!
Felicia's father, Michael, walked her down the aisle.
The azaleas were in full bloom although my confederate jasmine had gotten severely bitten by the freezing weather we had this winter. But, I think it will come back. The rest of the trees had all leafed out in pretty vibrant green.
It was a simple ceremony which included a warm welcome to the guests and honoring of their parents.
Asking Jacob the questions to which he answered "I Will."
 Their parents.......
 Same questions for Felicia.
 The rings........
Looking around at all their loved ones who are gathered in their honor.
Felicia's veil had gotten a little crooked (probably from the kiss!) and her hair fell forward and being the mother that I am, I just had to fix it for her!
Congratulations, Felicia and Jacob! I wish you many happy years ahead and the fortitude and love to meet any challenges life puts in front of you!

Beautiful November Wedding for Tammy and Jeff in my Wedding Garden!

Jeff called me last night--Thanksgiving evening--and asked if I could possibly perform a wedding ceremony this morning (November 29, 2013) for him and Tammy. Their plans to go to Charlotte tomorrow to get married were just not working out as planned and friends had traveled all the way from New York for their wedding. So they needed to work something out. I was very happy that I had the morning free and that the weather was going to be quite decent for an outdoor wedding in my garden. So we pulled it off and it was simply grand!

When Tammy and Jeff and their families and friends arrived, I learned that they had been high school sweethearts in their hometown of Dunkirk, NY. They went their separate ways afterwards, married and had children, but those marriages did not endure. Tammy found Jeff on Facebook and contacted him and they were delighted that they were both single again. They picked up where they left off so many years ago with led to this wonderful day. This is a resounding theme in many weddings I do and I adore being part of these "re-found" loves!
Since I had not met them or learned their story ahead of time, nor did I know they both had children, their ceremony was simple yet heartfelt. I did ad lib a children's blessing for their wonderful and thrilled children!
I stepped aside and rang the bell while they kissed and hugged.
Their sweet dog, Mojo, was there with her pink bow on to be a part of the wedding!
Tammy's best friend forever and her daughter came down from New York. They had originally met in London when their exes were working together and have daughters the same age so they are really considered family too. Their friendship continues although there have been many changes through the years. That's such a sweet story!
Tammy and Jeff, congratulations! Finally you are together! Your life journeys have prepared you for your paths to cross again and this time converge. I am so happy for you both and your children! I wish you all the best!
